If you're facing significant hair loss or have scarring that makes traditional hair transplant unsuitable, Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) might be the solution for you.

SMP is a non-invasive procedure using specialised microneedles to deposit pigments into the scalp, mimicking the appearance of shaved hair follicles or short stubble. This creates the illusion of tiny, natural-looking hair follicles, enhancing the appearance of fuller hair. Our experienced artist focuses on achieving a seamless blend with your skin tone, ensuring the dots resemble authentic hair follicles.

Who is suitable for Scalp Micropigmentation?

SMP can benefit individuals dealing with various types of hair loss, including those with:

✓     Thinning hair - General Hairloss

✓     Male & Female pattern balding

✓     Alopecia - Alopecia areata, Androgenetic alopecia

✓     Hair loss due to medical reasons

 ✓     Due to cancer treatment

Understanding the cause of your hair loss is the first step toward effective action. Identifying the type and extent of your hair loss is crucial for selecting the right hair restoration method. Men and women experience hair loss differently, so here's a straightforward guide to recognizing these variations and assessing your specific type and degree of hair loss. Rest assured, we're here to provide expert guidance!

The PROCESS

Following a comprehensive consultation where we discuss your concerns, goals, and expected outcomes, our skilled artist begins the process by designing your hairline. A numbing cream is applied for approximately 45 minutes and then gently removed. The entire procedure typically takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, varying depending on the complexity and the area being treated. Clients often describe the sensation as similar to scalp vibrations with occasional tiny needle pricks. It's generally quite comfortable. There's no downtime, and you can resume your social activities immediately after. Depending on your skin's healing process, you might require touch-up sessions following the initial SMP treatment.

HEALING

SMP Aftercare for the first 7 days

* Wash your hair with clean water after 6 hours of the SMP procedure. Do not scratch your scalp, be gentle. Lastly, to use cold air to blow dry hair, strictly no usage of hot air.

*After 24 hours of the SMP procedure, you can begin using regular shampoo to wash your hair. Please steer clear of shampoos specifically designed for the scalp, and opt for a standard shampoo instead.

* Sweating heavily: Try to avoid taking part in tough cardio sessions during this time. Excessive sweating can lead to an interruption in the healing process.

* Exposure to sunlight – UV rays can lead to sunburn and sun damage for your scalp.

* Touching with hands – Touching your scalp with your hands too much can increase the risk of infection.

Long-term SMP Aftercare

For long-term care, there are many steps and activities for you to follow:

* For the first month, do not go to chlorinated pools, saunas, and steam rooms.

* For the treated area, UV rays are harmful. Therefore, make sure to put sunscreen into your skin before going out. Use sunscreen with at least SPF 50+. For the first month avoid getting a tan on the treated area.

* Use fragrance-free, antibacterial soap for the first month if you want to wash your scalp.

* Use moisturizer right after taking a shower and before going to bed to keep your scalp moisturized.

* Do not use AHA-containing products in the treatment area because it will make the pigment fade.

* Stay off products that contain a high concentration of alcohol.

TREATMENT TIME

Duration: 2 to 3.5 hours

LONG TERM CARE

Results last 2 to 3 years, depending on individual metabolism, daily activities and scalp sun exposure. It is a technique that offers an alternative for patients who are not candidates for hair transplant surgery or who do not want a hair transplant surgery. Micropigmentation is considered semi-permanent. While the effects may last up to a few years, the treated area will fade over time since all skin naturally exfoliates itself.

COMMON QUESTIONS (FAQ)

  • Tattoo ink goes much deeper into the skin and is injected with a thicker needle which can cause scarring & other skin issues. SMP does not have such risk and creates a natural effect suitable for both men and women.

  • After your procedure, an aftercare card will be given to you. It is vital to adhere to the instructions to achieve the best results.

    **Do & Donts**

    * Avoid swimming, saunas, and steam rooms for 2 weeks after your treatment.

    * Keep out of the sun for 28 days after treatment.

    * Avoid heavy exercise for 5 days after your final treatment.

  • Our SMP technique creates results that are so natural, even experts are fooled. How do we achieve this result consistently? By the use of the finest instruments that place the ink pigments very evenly in the scalp, by employing ink placement techniques that have taken us years to develop and master. We colour-match the ink with the client’s skin and hair type for that seamless result from hair bearing areas to bald areas. We pride ourselves on the fact that no one has to know you had SMP, unless you told them.

  • Most clients find that SMP is a relatively comfortable and tolerable process. The numbing cream and some pre treatment medication helps clients to relax. It is often described as a vibrating sensation with occasional pin pricks on the scalp. Any pain is usually minimal and there is no pain after the treatment. Some even fall asleep during the treatment. We want our customer to feel as comfortable as possible. If there is any discomfort during the process, please inform your artist right

  • Our PMU service will only come into contact one's outer skin layer also known as the epidermis. Currently, there are no studies on the effects of pigments used and the chemicals that it contains affecting the fetus.

However, should you have any hesitation or doubt about the procedure during this period, please feel free to arrange for another appointment in the coming months. Most importantly, is to feel comfortable & safe when you are engaging our services.

  • Yes, similarly to powder technique of Misty, SMP does not puncture too deep and is gentle on the skin.

  • The reason why SMP appears so natural is because the ink has to be introduced at different depths on separate sessions. The pigment size we create mimics our natural hair follicle so closely that just 1-2 sessions is not enough to create the finished effect. Hence, clients typically need 3 to 4 sessions for the best results. This layering of ink creates a 3D effect so it looks very realistic. Some centres promise results in 1 session; but compensate with a larger than normal follicle size, which we have seen lead to very unnatural results. The initial two sessions are typically scheduled one week apart. We then allow for a minimum of one month before proceeding with the final third and fourth sessions.

  • Depending on the size of the area that we need to restore or conceal over, the complexity of the case, etc, it takes about 3 to 4 hours per session (including numbing).

  • SMP will gradually fade over time if there are no regular touch-ups as pigments used are semi-permanent in nature. Over time, the pigment will be broken down. This is why touch up is crucial to guarantee your desired results remains at it's best.

  • There is no downtime with SMP. At most, clients feel a very flight tingling sensation the night after the procedure, You can return to most social activities right away.We advise no heavy sweating or exercise for 4 to 5 days post SMP, to prevent “sweating out” of the ink. You can swim after 1 week. Some clients may notice mild redness over the scalp area which will go off after a few hours.

  • Since the procedure uses micro-needles that go only about 2mm into the scalp, it does not touch the follicles. Hair follicles are deeper and remain unaffected, untouched, and safe.

  • Yes SMP works with grey hairs. When grey hairs are trimmed very short, they appear darker in colour. It is actually the hair shaft that appears grey as it grows out. We will colour-match the ink to give you the best outcome for your SMP.

  • SMP inks will gradually fade and lighten completely. Unlike most tattoos or some centres, our SMP technique and skill avoids nasty surprises like change of colour from black, to grey to green. The SMP continues to look very natural throughout the lifespan of its ink.
